[DeTomaso] Tie Rod ends

To all:
 
Has anyone compared the threaded portion of a newly purchased tie rod end vs an original?  It seems that the newer ones from vendors and other sources have a larger diameter threaded portion than the originals.  I know the nuts won't interchange on the two different ones I have.  The tapered portion still works fine as it fits the hole in the spindle nicely.
 
Anyone else with this experience?
