I'm too embarassed to explain, but my problem has been solved. 

 

A hint - careful readers may have questioned why I said "6 threaded portions
remained in the head". That's true. A Cleveland has 8. 

 

Thanks everyone - it has been a pretty lousy past 20 minutes as I was
thinking of the possible consequences. Thanks for all the help
