[DeTomaso] Gee, I wonder what Asa Jay did in his garage tonight.

I'm glad you asked.
Well, last night I ordered more supplies from Summit Racing. The
expansion / fill tank I want is backordered. ARGH! Estimated ship date
is July 18. Drat! Well that won't stop me from putting the new cooling
system together up to that point anyway. I have settled on a plan, I
just need to get an external thermostat and I should have all the
specialty parts I need. Then it's a trip to the hardware store for some
copper tubing. Once I got all the pieces, tubes, rubber hoses and tanks
out of the car, the job looks a lot easier now. My plan is to attack
as much of the cooling system piping as I can this weekend. Being a
holiday weekend I hope to have more time to work on the car.
Anyway, tonight I took a break to look at the wiring necessary to drive
the new sucker fans. Wow! What a mess. My original pusher fans were
wired to come on as soon as the key was turned on. The two pairs of
wires that normally go to the thermostatic switches in the radiator were
simply jumpered. Only one of two fan relays was in use, driving both
fans. Splices and jumpers and even stuff I can't identify was in
there. I had one electrical cylinder fused relay looking kind of thingy
that I still don't know what it is, but I don't think it came stock on
the car. I also have one unidentified relay in the trunk with -no-
wires going to it at all.
In addition, I removed an air horn that had been installed by someone
else previously. I found it was being driven by the same hot wire
driving the original horns behind the passenger headlight. I don't know
if the orignals work, I'll test them later. If they don't, I'll buy a
set of horns more fitting and mount them in a better spot than the air
horns were to start with, which was right behind the radiator. I
believe at one time I was told the air horns were stock, but after
finding the two behind the headlight and the crappy way it was wired,
I'm think -no-, wrong answer.
For those who would like to see photos... would I disappoint?

More comments with the photos.
Unless of course you have your -Asa- filter turned on and are tired of
living vicariously through me and my exploits. :)
If you have any insight or answers (or know how much I can get for this
Maserati part) please let me know.
