[DeTomaso] Possible Hood Vents

At Silver State a couple of years ago I felt the rear end floating at high speed.
No air dam nor spoiler.
At some point it really settled down and I was able to increase speed significantly.
When I stopped I noticed my rear deck lid was missing.
I'm guessing this is when the car settled.

I think the bigger aero problem is air coming under the car and lifting the rear deck lid. Both myself and Mad Dawg have lost rear deck lids at high speed. The Beast has the vents in it's fiberglass front hood. I'll soon be adding a front air dam, but I still think a belly pan or louvers in a (fiberglass) rear deck lid are required.

Mad Dog, Larry Stock and Jr Wilson found that BALANCING the front & rear aero is important. They all ran some kind of rear spoilers with front air dams: Jr had a wing while MD & Larry opted for NASCAR-type blades set on the decklid frame, below the actual decklid for more rigidity. At very high speeds, you can actually unload the rear tires from the lift off the back end. Too much at one end is still too much- J Deryke
