The creation of fog anywhere depends on the % moisture in the air and the
temperature. At some moisture content/temperature combination, the 'dewpoint'
will occur and moisture condenses. Drying the air in & near the gauges is
the 1st step. Minimizing temperature changes (lo-watt bulbs etc) only works
in some locales but removing moisture works everywhere, regardless of where
it came from. Silica gel does not 'wear out', it only gets moisture-saturated
and can be regenerated by heating to 150F in an oven for a while. More heat
works but deteriorates the little envelopes. FWIW- J Deryke
