[DeTomaso] Plastic Seat Question

Thanks Mark,
I talked to Matt a couple of months ago about his seat. He kindly
offered to let me try it out in my car. I haven't got around to that yet.
Regarding the big side bolsters, I agree. I bought such a seat and had to
return it after one day, there was no way it was going to work for me.
What I'm thinking about doing with the plastic seat is trimming out as much
of the side bolstering as necessary to make it easy to get in and out of the
car. Hopefully removing the material won't cause the seat to be too flimsy
or even break? The seats are pretty cheap to start with, I should be able
to have one delivered for less than sixty dollars.

Matt Merritt had an off-the-shelf foam-on-plastic seat that he was able
to shave at the bottom to fit into a dropped pan. As I recall, it
worked OK for him.

Keep in mind that these side bolstered seats can be a PIA to get into
and out of. You may find it is more of a hassle than it is worth in a
street car.

Have any of you guys ever bought a plastic seat and then had it
upholstered? If so, were you happy with the results? The link below
shows an example.

Thanks,
