Thanks for the kind remarks. The hole in the frame for the coolant pipe is
certainly unnecessary. It was employed because I used a Laminova heat
exchanger that reached low and invited the opportunity to straighten the
lines and provide space above the rail for the oil lines. The engine was
out and I was in a no compromise state of mind. As Kirby pointed out -
reduce the bends - straighten the path - increase flow.
I have incorporated the cooling system without the oil cooler on my GT5 and
pass the coolant pipe over the rail. I had a tube bent at my local Meinike
shop and a duplicate made as well that David Bell incorporated on his car.
The article, that Kirby mentions, includes mods to engine cooling, oil
cooling and revised heater core routing. The engine cooling mod is fairly
straight forward if you filter out the other mods.
I have attached a photo of the GT5 rear coolant pipe routing that will find
its way to ASA and Kirby. Of course, it will be stripped from the list.
