[DeTomaso] Chevy in & out of Panteras or Engine

I think most engine makers know about these things, its more a matter of
expensive production. Combustion chamber shape is a tricky one. I dont
think modern 4 valve chamber are very optimal for the burning process.
There are 4 valves in the end of a channel that dictate what the chamber
is going to look like. Two strokers model airplane motors do not have
such limits of valves, so another chamber is used. I think we need one
type of chambers for the valves and angle to the runner and another for
burnig itself, and that the engineering work is about the best mix.

It is almost comical to think that a leadership engineering culture that
has been developing for over 60 years looks to "copy" solutions from
other powerplants.
There is no doubt the powertrain engineers at GM evaluate specific
solutions in other engines produced by competition.
Every engineering group in the world does that.
The interrelationship of engine development criteria results in a rich
field of possible options. The choices are based on science and merit,
not on what some other manufacturer did last year with their port
surfaces or piston crown shape.
Combustion chamber science today is one of the most advanced in the
world. A solution that is good for one application may not be good for
another.
