>From what I know, all ABS does is actuate the brakes. The system does "watch" the rotors, but only in order to compare their rotational speeds with each other, so it can determine if one is "slipping". When it recognizes this, the system applies that particular caliper, or releases the opposite caliper, or some combination of the two actions. But the rotors and the actual calipers are independent of the ABS system in terms of engineering or design. Or, to answer you question exactly, the rotors, and the calipers are not different in terms of ABS or non-ABS systems. Good question however...
My system, with the Porsche-Brembo calipers (and 13" Coleman rotors) came off of two 1996 year model 993s. Both Porsche's had ABS.
Hope this helps,
Chris

Subject: ABS Calipers vs. NON-ABS Calipers
4382 has original calipers (never even rebuilt, hard to believe but thats what the previous
owner told me). So thats one of the priority projects on the list and frankly I don't want to
allot of money on rebuilding the original calipers and potentially spending as much or more vs.
just replacing the caliper with a better unit. I've considering changing calipers (looked at what
Chris Difani did) and was curious if there is a difference between ABS and Non-ABS actuated calipers?
Or is the only difference on an ABS system the master cylinder, rotors and sensors?
Thanks
