P.S.   It's worth mentioning that all the people who I gave a ride to at 
the track were impressed, until I told them afterwards that I had my foot to 
the floor virtually everywere that I wasn't braking.   They assumed I was 
just sort of loafing around on half-throttle to save the engine, or something.

After that, they were just sort of sad for me. :>)
