with a warrant and if it is turned on they can get you close within the cell
area.

There are non name brand systems ( non LoJack) available where you install
it yourself and you can check the GPS sensor on the car 24/7 online.
they cost about $200 to buy and around $100.00 a year for the monitoring

the now defunct Circuit City had a big display of them before they closed.

Best Buy probably offers it as well.
