Some states have dropped the rquirement for a front plate on older 
'classic' cars. Check your DMV for details. Others will nail you for no plate when 
there's no other reason to stop you (usually, you can get away with carrying 
wipers in the trunk and putting them back on in the presence of a 
'blue-meanie,' to quote the Beatles). There used to be a strap-plate holder for pre-Ls 
that mounted between one front bumper-half and the body, making the car 
look like it had only one buck-tooth hanging down.... Sorry-   J Deryke, living 
in low-tax NV where there's no front plate requirement on older cars. No 
smog laws, either
