Art,

Please describe the sound in detail rather than guesses as to what you think it sounds 
like. For example, stating it sounds like an exhaust leak doesn't give us the ability to 
confirm or deny your diagnosis. Asa has asked some good questions. Here are some 
more...

 - What gear were you going to when you missed the shift?
 - Was it during a hard launch?
 - Were you in or coming out of a turn?
 - Does your car have the stock oil pan?
 - Does it make the noise only when revving the engine? Or anytime you cruise over a certain RPM?
 - Does it sound like ball bearings being shaken in a can?
 - Does it only make sound on acceleration or deceleration, or both?
 - Any other useful info to describe the sound and when it occurs.

The reason I ask these questions is because I think you starved the engine for oil and spun a rod bearing.
