[DeTomaso] Holley Carb jet extension-stalls on braking

Clay,
I had the same problem for years. I had the carb worked on a couple of
times and it still did the same thing. I finally made enough adjustment to
the float level of the secondaries that the problem disappeared. I couldn't
believe I suffered with that problem for so long and it was just a simple
adjustment! I think my car was flooding out when I hit the brakes, so I
lowered the float level so that the bowl wouldn't fill so high, (at least I
think that is how it works), problem solved. Someone here should be able
to give you the correct instructions but I see no reason you can't do it
yourself. The screw and the nut are not intuitive on the carb. The nut
does the adjusting while the screw does the locking. Seems backwards but
that's how it works. I would guess that turning the nut counter clockwise
would lower the float level, or not? :-)) Holley should have instructions
on their web site. If it was me, I would probably adjust the nut half a
turn and take the car for a test drive. I would continue this until it gets
better or worse. I'm not a big fan of making the adjustment with the sight
plug out and the engine running, I don't like the idea of burning my car
up. :-)) I had adjusted the floats that way before and it never got me to
the setting that worked anyway.

Good luck,
Art
