[DeTomaso] Rod Length, especially for turbocharged motors

I was planning to use a 6 inch rod which seems pretty typical for a high performance SBF, but I've been reading and came across some issues.  I probably want more meat above and between the rings to protect them from high temp, and that motivates a shorter rod.  I also read that there are some advantages to a shorter dwell time at TDP with a turbocharged engine, maybe mostly durability.  I also read that longer rods are more for higher RPM engine builds (I'm looking for a 7,500 red line).  And the SBCs run 5.7 length rods (my crank has SBC rod journals) so a lot of 5.7 inch rods are available.  Using a 3.48 stroke crank in a 9.2 deck block.  That gives a 1.63 rod length to stroke ratio with 5.7 inch rods.

If anyone has looked into rod length, especially for turbocharged engines, I would appreciate their suggestions.

Thanks,

Ken
