[DeTomaso] headlight motor

Jack,

In my experience a Lucas 14W wiper motor is a straight bolt on to the Pantera, they can be found in some Jaguar models and more commonly in Leyland vehicles (Original Mini, Morris etc.). Failure as you say is nearly always due to the plastic gear splitting, which is replaceable, but hard to find as a replacemnt part. I sourced about 10 of the plastic gears some time ago and have maybe 8 left. I sell them for $15 inclusive of mailing in continetal US. That compares favorably to GBP15 out of the UK plus postage.

On the headlight motor, yes the gearboxes are the same, however, I can assure you my headlight motor is not the same as the window motors, it is a much larger and heavier duty unit.

One headlight lift mod reported on the PI forum used an electrical piston actuator to raise the headlights. It seemed a good idea to me and the bushed mounting had potential to minimze the shake the headlights often experience due to the poor motor gear/lift mechanism intermesh.
