Excellent! There are several things that can go wrong deep inside a starter
and a momentary load test doesn't find all of them. Brushes wear out,
bushings wear out, the bendix assembly wears out and besides that, rebuilt
starters often use cheap poly electrical bushings to hold the solenoid contacts in
place of OEM bakelite (which eventually cracks). Poly cold-flows or in
severe cases, melts under a 200-amp starting load if you grind the starter very
long. The next time you try starting, this gives a momentary contact and
generaes even more heat. I've had rebuilt starters fail on the 3rd use. Get a
quality starter and forget such troubles permanently. Good luck- J Deryke
