When the car is hanging in the air with no weight on the suspension, 
the suspension droops until the driveshafts hit the exhaust.  If you 
are trying to align your exhaust with the weight of the 
suspension-driven driveshaft on top, you'll never get it right.

With the car in the air, put a floor jack under the suspension and 
raise it until the driveshaft no longer touches the pipe.  Then you can 
align the exhaust as you wish.

Yes--this means that if you choose to 'fly' your car over a jump, the 
driveshafts will come down and whang the top of your exhaust.  
Similarly, if you hit a big bump, your swaybar will come up and whang 
the bottom of your exhaust.

It's just the mature of the beast, especially when larger-diameter 
exhaust systems are fitted.
