Mike,
To ship flat rate priority mail, I think you can just log onto the USPS web cite and pay for a lable with your CC, and hand off the package to mailman. They even give away the flat rate boxes. It's cheap, fast, and easy.

You are overlooking one crucial point. There's a lot more than
'simply
throwing it in an envelope'.
In order to ship packages via US mail, the vendor needs to put them in his
car, drive to the post office, fill out paperwork, and stand in line to process
the package. UPS shows up and picks the packages up from his shop every day,
with all the shipping labels and insurance and etc. handled automatically.
That's why every business in the country (not just Pantera vendors) ships
via
Fed Ex or UPS, and not via USPS.
BTW the most egregious example I've seen is a Pantera vendor sending a $5
plastic bellhousing cover to Johnny Woods in the UK, and sending it via UPS
instead of the post office; UPS charges were $82!
And the vendors aren't profiting from the shipping. I ship things all the
time to guys in Europe, and I see that the regular Fed Ex and UPS rates are
astronomical. That's part of the price of convenience (for the shipper),
plus
fast service, excellent tracking, and full insurance.
Mike
