I think this tells even a few more things. Like...

We can do things for our own joy, OR, to create a public value or status.
(Or maybe a mix).
If we are having a clear picture of why we are doing what we do, a selling
price after death is of no concern. It will be within our calculation.

If we do things for our own joy, we are allways getting full value for our
work and investment.

If we do things to create public value, we will never know where we end
up, as our own satisfaction is dependent on the public mind at the time.

A car like Pur Gold may have been build for the owner to just sit on a chair
to look at, then it dosent matter if it brings him anywhere. It may have
been
built to show that such shiny car really is possible to drive aroud with.
The only one who knows, is THE BUILDER HIMSELF. And the important
thing is that he has been honest to himself as he decided what to do with
the
car.

My own car has been rebuilt so many times that 90% of the work and money
put in to it is allready consumed, replaced or reworked. The car that is now
standing in the garage is just the remaning10% left of my Pantera lifework.
Whatever the car will sell for, the other 90% will never get a market value.
