The counter to that is the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" idea....

If you are going to change the thermostat, use the Robershaw unit for the 
351C.   Part number is 333-180.   They're a bit more expensive, and arguably 
they're better than a normal thermostat.   Plus you won't accidently install a 
351W unit which will physically install, but due to its subtle design 
differences, WILL lead to chronic overheating.
