[DeTomaso] Tire and wheel sizes

I also have this setup on my Pantera, and like it very much - but with the Tjarda rims i have it seems just a little wide. plus, i get a little push in corners - folks have recommended i go with the 315/35 17's on the rear for my next set on the back, 245 40/17's on the front. Both have a diamater of 25.7 inches...

I had a couple questions in reference to wheel and tire sizes for a stock  72 
pre L body.  I was considering going with 17" wheels and tires.  I  was 
wondering what the width and offset needs to be for a nice wide  appearance.  I was 
also wondering if the tire sizes 275/ 40 ZR  17  and 335/ 35 ZR 17 would fit?
