[DeTomaso] Considering a new distributor ...

I have an electromotive on my white car.
It uses the crank trigger to fire the plugs, but of course it does not know
if you are on the compression or exhaust side of the cycle without the other
signal.
To solve this I added a sensor to the inside bottom of an old distributor
where the mechanical advance is.
In the bottom of the distributor cut all but one of the weight arms off
leaving one metal arm to use to trigger the sensor.
The distributor turns with the cam and can be used to send the compression
cycle signal to the computer.
The crank trigger does the exact timing trigger. The distributor signal
only tells the computer when to start.
I cut the distributor off where the points plate was and used the screw
holes to install a cover.
The distributor now runs the oil pump and the one sensor.

I think Jason has the electromotive system. FAST (now part of the Comp Cams
family) made something call as "EDIST" and now has a newer version called
the "XIM" that lets you build a coil on plug system. The Electromotive is a
waste fire system so you only need a crank signal, you need a cam signal for
the coil on plug. Fred Terry had a very cool cam sensor setup through the
unused mechanical fuel pump mounting point. I think some people claim a
small performance gain from coil on plug, amd all the GM LS series motors
are coil on plug.

Just curious ... does anyone make a crank fire/trigger ignition system for
the
Pantera?
