Is this "big boy" Luminova different than those placed in the Crown Vics?

Youy haven't been reading the posts! Yes- they're bigger in every dimiension.

Where is a good place to get one?

I'd go to Quella since he's a dealer. Or browse to www.BAT-INC.com in Florida

And will it work better than the large Fluidyne oil-water exchange unit I've been running (which never seemed to do much on these SS runs)?

No- its value is that its cleanable in a pan of solvent- it easily disassembles.

The benefit of running an oil cooler up front seems to apply more for air-oil coolers to catch some breeze. I don't think the weight transfer of just a cooler is a significant enough reason to run the longer lines and have oil fittings in front of all four tires. An oil-water exchange unit may as well be placed wherever it's convienant.

As I said, you really gotta chop up a Pantera nose to properly position an air-to-oil cooler, build ducting to route air into and out of it and when you're done, you're left with 20 feet of fragile oil lines to worry about.

Or you could just try a lower speed class where the engine isn't stressed enough to need a cooler.
