[DeTomaso] Engine lifting w/Carburetor Studs

Carb studs are usually 5/16", no? In Gr 5 material (+/-60ksi?) each stud should be good for about 2900#s if the forces are properly applied (straight up) using a carb plate. All four together should easily support the whole car. I would not trust a chain link bolted to a carb stud. Bad loading on the bolt shank.3/8" bolts through a chain link into the back of the head are loaded in single shear and could be problematic if the adjacent link in the chain causes the bolts to tilt or bend when they're tightened down. Use spacers or washers to keep things square and you'll be fine.The air cleaner hold down nut is usually 1/4", 5/16" on the Demons (for access to the "Idle EZE" screw).
