Sorry, pal- I've always had trouble with this one myself! I usually fiddle 
with the carb 'cause its easier for me; if I can't make the 
preignition/detonation go away with richness, I figure its in the ignition.... and hopefully, I 
figure it out before the bearings give up from the pounding. 
FWIW, happy-go-lucky Larry does have a factory crank & rods on display in his 
shop- with the very rare "blue rods & black journals" - when Pantera owners 
ask him why they should pay big bucks for an Avaid oil pan.   Cheers- J Deryke
