[DeTomaso] Engine Bay Brace question

I may be repeating what I believe Goran said but the "truss" that GW
shows in his pictures is unstable.

While there are some benefits in adding the two "45" degree members to
the top and bottom braces to stabilizing the two horizontal braces, the
effects are minimal as compared to employing the triangulation rules of
truss design.

As everyone knows on this forum from what they learned in grade school
geometry, the only stable two dimensional shape is a triangle.

Basic force vector analysis of truss design requires that all load
points be triangulated.

Leaving out that there are more than 2 dimensional forces involved in
stabilizing the rear suspension mounts and if one where to design the
"optimum" rear suspension truss (which I think is a waste of time and
overkill), a designer would build a three dimensional truss.

Some basic reference material can be found on many online sites that can
provide some "put you to sleep" material over the Christmas and New Year
holidays, such as:

To all, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and most important for the
older folks on this forum a Healthy New Year.
