[DeTomaso] Engine Bay Brace question

Having turnbuckles in the center of a member under compression doesn't seem like sound engineering either. Seems like it would be better to make the brace between the shock mounts to fit the car like the original?
Are the original braces too short?

My thought exactly. Loading even a little side-force in the middle of a
tube simply causes it to bend. FWIW- J Deryke
