Jim,
These sockets are suppose to have a sleeve on the inside also. They are available in several common lug nut sizes.

The nylon sleeves do nothing to protect the nuts. They will keep you from
scratching the wheels. That is why I use a torque wrench to loosen and
tighten the nuts. NO RATTLE WRENCH!!! Rattle wrench will beat the corners of
the nuts to a sharp edge. I use a battery drill motor instead.
19mm is the common lug nut for a 12 mm lug. A 3/4 six point socket should
work. Some of the specialty nuts use a 21mm socket. A 13/16 socket may be a
little snug. I have some 2" long acorn nuts that I use for the Gotti wheels
that need a 7/8 socket.
I found a cheap 3 piece set of deep lug nut sockets with the nylon sleeves
at Harbor Freight. They are 17mm, 19mm, and 21mm. I can not find that set in
the online catalog now.

I found this:
http://www.toolsupplystore.com/grey-pneumatic-2026tp-12-drive-x-1316-etw-whe
elnut-protector-p-4819.html
and it looks worth getting to keep from scratching the lug nuts. Has anyone
used them?
Is 13/16 the right size?
Ken
