[DeTomaso] protective lug nut sockets

The nylon sleeves do nothing to protect the nuts. They will keep you from
scratching the wheels. That is why I use a torque wrench to loosen and
tighten the nuts. NO RATTLE WRENCH!!! Rattle wrench will beat the corners of
the nuts to a sharp edge. I use a battery drill motor instead.

19mm is the common lug nut for a 12 mm lug. A 3/4 six point socket should
work. Some of the specialty nuts use a 21mm socket. A 13/16 socket may be a
little snug. I have some 2" long acorn nuts that I use for the Gotti wheels
that need a 7/8 socket.

I found a cheap 3 piece set of deep lug nut sockets with the nylon sleeves
at Harbor Freight. They are 17mm, 19mm, and 21mm. I can not find that set in
the online catalog now.

Subject: [DeTomaso] protective lug nut sockets

I found this:

and it looks worth getting to keep from scratching the lug nuts.  Has anyone
used them?

Is 13/16 the right size?

Ken
