I talked to Kenda recently (BBORR vets know who I'm talking about) and she told me that Bud Powers had passed away

after heart surgery.  Anyone who has ran at Big Bend will know Bud as the tall, lanky West Texan who drove the bright yellow

El Camino.  He wore red nomex tucked into his cowboy boots! You usually saw him waiting patiently in his car as the other drivers walked back and forth from their cars to the starting line as they anxiously waited to run.  Typical west Texas friendly,

meaning he'd give you the shirt off his back right after he met you.  His car number changed every year reflecting his age.

Last year he was #88.  Very cool and dearly missed.
