Which also serves to ensure the cruise doesn't try to rev the engine to maintain speed if you dip the clutch. Ideally on a manual transmission car the clutch should have a cruise cut out switch as well or you may be able to do some fabrication that locates the brake cut out switch between the two pedals to do dual duty.
