[DeTomaso] switch positions for Audiovox Cruise Control

Chris -

Here are the e-mails I saved from when I asked the question a few years ago.
Note that I never did get mine working. I also now have LED tail lights, so
if it wouldn't work before, it'll sure NOT work now!!

The test lights indicated that everything was correctly wired. My theory was
that the system didn't have enough b*lls to pull the throttle cable due to
having double throttle return springs? I eventually gave up on it, although
I would really like to have it working...

E-mails from Dave Doddock and some guy named Chris Kimball...

>From Dave Doddock:
For tach on the Pantera you need

S1 S2 s3 s4 s5 s6 s7
on off off on off off on

Jumper removed.

Make sure the brake signal wires are correct. I believe the red wire goes
to brake power or battery all the time and the purple wire goes to the brake
lights. On the Pantera, the brakes are not on the battery. You may need to
move the red wire to the battery power. If the brake wires are not right,
the cruise will not work.

I know these units work well, I have installed 1 with VSS, 1 with magnets,
2 with ECM tach signals, and 1 with Coil Tach signals.

Sure, Jim. Here's the note I got that made it work:

> 2=on, 3=off, 4=off, 5=off, 6=off and 7=off.

Hope it helps!

Does anyone have the correct switch positions for the audiovox cruise
control module?

Quite some time ago someone on the forum gave them to me and my unit worked
fine. I then added the L.E.D. light package and the cc stopped working. I
tried different switch positions, but it still didn't work, so I just left
it alone until now, when I ordered a new cruise control.

Upon reading the instructions for the new cc, I found it said if a person
uses L.E.D. tail lights, a relay must be used for the cruise control to
work--the L.E.D.s don't ground the tail light circuit when the brake is off,
which is required for the cc to work.

I don't know this for sure, but I'll be the same is true for my audiovox
unit. Before I pull it and install the new one, I want to try it with the
relay. That's why I need the correct switch positions, so I can be sure
everything is set up right when I test it.

Much appreciated,

Chris
