[DeTomaso] Engine Bay Air Flow

Both Greg Esakoff and Colin Haney have/had roof scoops directing air to
the intake. I purchased a scoop for "The Beast" but have not been able
to will myself into cutting through the roof. For one, it looks like
there is a double layer of steel, two it seems like too much of a
butcher job, even for The Beast.
I was told Esakoff was able to increase the fuel into his EFI and gain
something like 50hp, which supposedly contributed to a ZF failure.

If not using any kind of reinforcing I wouldnt cut the roof behind the
engine window. There are walls and double sheet metal constructions
which
both strengthen the chassis and give some kind of rollbar protection.
This is okay if some other precaution is taken like a cage. I had the
idea
of letting the air in, in the cocpit roof which is single sheet metal.
Then
make a cutout in the rear glass in front of the carb. It could also
serve
as a coupe fresh air vent.
But the scoop I use is pretty efficient and very easy to remove for
service.
The ZF should be able to handle 50 extra Hp.
