[DeTomaso] supercharger question

Boyd,

I'm not sure what you do for an intake with a twin screw supercharger on a Cleveland, maybe a custom sheet metal manifold ($2,000+ ?).

I am going with a couple GT35R turbos.  I've been told that the ball bearing turbos have almost no perceived lag unless you have huge compressors, but that's for something like a 2000 HP motor.  The FAST (and I think TEC-3) will let you control boost as a function of inputs, so I plan to limit it to 4 PSI in 1st, 6 PSI in 2nd, and then 8 PSI.

You also have to trade off compression ratio versus ultimate power.  I want good performance off boost, and I think anything over 800 FWHP will just break parts, so I am aiming for 9.5 CR with water/alcohol injection and maybe air to water intercoolers to meet the HP goal.  Kind of a balancing act.

If you do it right, a supercharged motor should be more reliable than a simliar HP normally aspirated motor because you don't have to rev as high, and the highest stress on most motors is actually at the top of the exhaust stroke where the rod reverse the direction of the piston.  Also, superchagring tends to extend the pressure in the cylinder over a longer time versus only providing higher pressure.

I'm doing some patent work for Kenne Bell Superchargers and can ask about sizing and manifolds if that helps.

    Ken

Aside from the obvious issues ofhood clearence and rear visability whic is
the best type of super harger for a cleveland or windsor engine  , a Paxton
Turbine type , or a top mounted with rotors. If someone can reccomend a
spscefic brand and the specs ( model #) or size relative to displacement.
