Answer me this Batman...

Why did my 68 Mustang have aluminum torque converter nuts?

I was told it had to do with the natural vibration frequency of aluminum -
causing it to naturally tighten.  Sounds bogus to me, but you never know.

I've always wondered...

Even 'engineered' such as on some Porsches, the threads can shear out of 
aluminum nuts, releasing the wheel if- for instance, Plan A doesn't work and

you run off the road somewhere. Major body damage usually follows. I love 
lightness but I won't run these things- just too dangerous on the street.
