There is little difference in power between in power between  properly 
tuned carb and efi engines.
 
The big advantages to an efi system, IMHO, are ease of  tuning, automatic 
compensation for altitude/load changes, ease of cold  starting, consistency 
the tune over time, and far superior general  drivablility.
 
For example, I have a 1993 Ford 460 CI van which has never had the  plugs 
changed or a single maintenance action to the engine. It starts, runs, and  
gets exactly the same gas mileage as it did the day it was brand new.
