[DeTomaso] You want EFI, why not ask the guy who knows?

Kirby,

I was just thinking that if you're spending $5K on an EFI system, another $2,500 for heads made sense, and that in particular, if you spend more like $7,500 for a cross ram EFI, the heads make a lot of sense because you can't use the manifold made for 4V heads on high port heads if you want to go that way later.

I'm a little surprised that there aren't more Panteras with tunnel ram based EFIs running around.  That seems like a lot of bang for the buck and I think fits under the engine cover, but not the very cool appearance of the IR system.

Actually, I put IR EFI on my Pantera with 4V iron heads back in 2000
and I'm quite impressed with it.
The setup gave the car a lot more low and mid range power. I got a
pretty good deal on it and would not have been able to afford all the
changes required for the high port heads (new headers required, etc.
etc.)

Maybe I'm easily impressed?
:-)

MD and I both got our manifolds from Kelly. I'm sure Kelly will make
more if required, but they ain't cheap.
Don Franck has a similar setup on his iron 4V heads as well.

Yes, Don. I'm back from Kansas. Let's talk about tuning.

FWIW,
Kirby
