    I looked in the McMaster Carr on line catalog and I couldn't find any
drilled metric bolts.

Ian,

That's the info I needed.  I thought one might be longer than the other 
with a different hole spacing.  I think I may take a trip to my local 
fastener house and see what they have available in the way of 
pre-drilled bolts.  Else, I'll take my bolts in and have them drilled 
for safety wire.  Then I might consider buying new tab thingys.
