[DeTomaso] Desperate plea for clutch help

I did not get in on the beginning of this but it sounds like the clutch disc has attached itself to the flywheel. If the clutch was OK and sat a long time with the clutch engaged, on the flywheel, both surfaces can corrode slightly and stick together.

That happened to me. The car sat three years.

A friend told me to do the following to break it loose, it worked:

Roll the car somewhere that gives you about 200 feet in each direction. Make sure the brakes are working well.
Put the transmission in neutral and start the engine, let it run and get well warmed up. 
Turn the engine off.
Put the transmission in reverse.
Start the engine with the transmission in reverse gear.
The car will start and jerk reaward.
Repeatedly go on and off the gas, causing the car to go from a stall to accelerating, jerking back in reverse.
You will hear a loud BANG. 
The clutch is loose and the car can be shifted and driven normally.
