Laurie, you have to be the greatest teacher EVER!!! None of my teachers
every gave up their day to do anything so fun and enlightening. Of course, 
I think there may have been a little bit of selfishness behind your effort (plus
you got paid for you field trip!).  

There is something very special and magical about the grand prix that only comes 
out when standing next to the fence watching these marvelous machines go by 
when they are within 20 feet of you. The music from their engines does something 
to your soul that nothing else does...at least for me. I can still remember the days of 
F1 at Long Beach and the Matra 12's, Ferrari's  and Turo Renault's in their hay day. 

Last year my 19 year old daughter went down to the race with some friends. She's
been many times with me, (also races karts and has a love for the Pantera and can't wait
for it to be finished) but it warmed my heart when she called me from the track 
with such excitement in her voice saying DAD WE HAVE TO GO NEXT YEAR TOGETHER, 
THIS IS SO MUCH FUN...I could hear the cars in the background.
You just gave your students an experience they soon won't forget! BRAVO LAURIE!
