I just clean and RTV that area. Seems to work fine.

Subject: [DeTomaso] two questions

Hi everyone.

I have two questions for you prior to my new motor going in:

1) I was told to get an O ring for my dipstick tube (at the bottom when it
goes into the new engine block). The folks at NAPA had no idea what I was
talking about, and when I called a Pantera vendor, the guy there said they
use a brass washer crimped at the base of the tube as a stop, then seal it
with silicone.

Since I don't have one of the little brass things, he said I could just use
that gasket-type silicone to seal the tube where it enters the engine block,
and no O ring was necessary.

What say y'all?

2) My engine will be a bored and stroked Cleveland block displacing 408 CI.
The carb shop said a Holley 750 would be a good match for the kind of
driving I do (mainly street). I have edelbrock heads, if that matters.

Do you agree with the carb recommendation?

Thanks,

Chris
