Hello Fans of the newcomer .
The saga continues. 1972 detomaso pantera
Here are the findings .
after trying countless times to get her to turn over ....she did but
...chug....chug.all plugs fouled with gas .
pulled the 4779-7 holley 750 cfm carb off engine and adjusted floats and
rechecked everything . new power valve, cleaned jets ,new accelerator plungers...
fully cleaned fuel line and replaced fuel filter
compression check average 115-125 lbs across the board .
i did notice on the carb that the idle screw near accelerator cable is
tightly closed and car cannot idle faster only slower. Is something messed up with
idle screw mechanism? Could this cause the issues?
Found tdc by hand moving engine to tc.Rechecked rotor and found where # 1
plug should go on cap . 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 counter clock wise.Is it possible the
firing order for this engine is actually 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8.I don't think so
,just wanted to ask.

ENGINE
Replaced Mallory coil and rewired all connections. Found I had no voltage to
the unilite electronic distributor .
rewired all wires to the coil and ballast resister.Distributor now has full
voltage.
Car was now able to start ...still chugging,,,but holding 800-900 rpm and
smoke....Found timing mark and set timing to 16 degrees.
No change to car...still chugging major hesitation .
I ordered a new module for the distributor . If that does not cure things
immediately then the carb has to go .
I really don't know what else to do ......This past week has me mentally
drained .
Another thought .....When I replaced the radiator, water pump ,thermostat I
did bypass the wiring harness for the meriah sucker fans and put in new relays
for the fans .Could that effect the engine ?
Blown valve? How to check that ?
All I can say at this point is...WHAT THE F...?
I am open to any and all suggestions
