Wilkinson's faux carbon fiber bumper was very impressive, when I saw it 
installed on Rick Moseley's car.   It required just the faintest bit of filing to 
allow the hood to open as far as the original bumper did.   Although he carries 
it with blingy carbon fiber look, he'd probably make one out of fiberglass if 
you wanted to paint it.
