I haven't tried it, but this looks like a nice configurable unit, meant
for post-processing not live information:

Spark Fun has all sorts of cool electronic parts but the above unit
is a ready-to-go hardened GPS data logger.  Analyze your lap times or
your teenage drivers!

If you are electronically inclined, you can put together their 5hz
update rate GPS and 5-axis IMU for F1 quality data!
