Put a thin coating of grease or some other non-damaging, resiliant substance
on the top of the rubber seal, then close the trunk and open it again. If
there isn't a corresponding line of grease on the underside of your trunk,
you've found your problem.
Some vendors sell aftermarket weatherstripping that is junk. Looks fine,
but isn't tall enough to do the job. Your car may be so-afflicted.
