[DeTomaso] RPM - MPH Conversion

Michael,

I actually have two GPS units, but I successfully used one of these calculators when I was preparing to run the Silver State Challenge about eight few years ago and they are a great tool for planning tire diameters (and gear ratios if you have the $).
Also, the tach is easier for me to keep an eye on, if I can figure an accurate conversion (which I suppose I can just do from comparing the GPS speed at different rpms). The regular speedometer (which I don't have anyway) is less than helpful with the tire diameter change.

  Not good enough...
Just use a GPS like everyone else and watch the average speed indicated as well as the current speed readings. Try to make things as simple as possible, not the other way around. The less dinking around you do in the car the better you and everyone else will be.

  > The following link calls for rpm, tire diameter (27.2"), and gear ratio (.705, right?). I think I have the wrong gear ratio because it says I'll be doing 49,947,234 miles per hour at 4,000 rpm's.
