Homes,

  Forget about Junior's car...ithasn't run a ORR since the 90's....

  If your basic street or race modified Pantera or Mangusta can pass tech assuming you have a mounted roll bar and the other safety gear required anyone can average 100-160 Mph.

  There are at least the 30+ ORR De Tomaso Pantera & Mangusta veterans who don't have to worry about rookie status...they're just not ready to run. Read Mikey's latest editorial on our needing new blood.

  For the rookie/1st time participatants if you have;

  1. Proof of a race license.... "OR" you have completed a 'driving school (Bondurent, Jim Russell, Dale Jarrett, etc) I can assist you or anyone else into the Grand Sport Division (130-165 mph) in obtaining a waiver approval but your ride also has to pass tech.

  Bob Benson, John Bentley and several others have ALL got waivers for the 1st-time/rookie requirement for both;
        *  Track Qualifying Session, and
        *  Touring Division speed limits

  2. But again your Pantera or Mangusta must also pass tech. That means if you want to average 130-159 MPH (you can't average more then 10 mph over your tech or top speed) you need the additional safety equipment on your Pantera (ie a roll bar, Z or Y rated tires less then 3 years old in good condition, race harness, race suit, etc).

  Help me help YOU and others pay out that $2,000,000. In a week it goes to $5,000,000! ;-]>

Doggie,

You one smart puppy!

The way I understand your challenge almost no one qualifies:

One must:

1) Drive a DeTomaso

2) Drive faster than you ever have (within the rules of the ORR organizers)

Since a driver must prove themselves to the event organizers before they are allowed
to run in the open/unlimited class, and you know that small circle of people. You
know the status/willingness of these "pseudo-slacker" sleeps in the Dawg's shadow
guys.

No "newbie" or even done it once, got the T-shirt, guy will be allowed to run
unlimited.

So I think your challenge is a real gambling long-shot.

Provide a list of who qualifies for unlimited (with a deTomaso), and I'll
consider a biz proposition.

Only those select few could say buy Wilson's old car, prep it and run.

Yea it is possible, but not likely. Bump your offer to $5,000,000,
and have Scott Black, Matt Stone and others publicize it.
Also give the challenger 1-year (the 2009 season).

Chuck
