[DeTomaso] Another disappointment

Well, I was all set to take the Pantera on the PNW Birch Bay run up North to a car show, but once again, the Pantera was upstaged by a gremlin (so to speak).

I started it up, drove to the gas station, filled it up, got back in, it didn't start up. The gauges all did what they normally do when the key turned on, the ammeter went to the "current is being drawn" position, but the starter motor was silent.

I tried the usual, checking the battery posts, wiggling wires on the component I replaced not too long ago (the one with the large wire that goes down to the starter motor--I can't recall its name at the moment), but to no avail.

I had to have a guy who was getting gas help me push start it (it started right up). And of course, as I was driving away the guy uttered those stinging words we all hate to hear, "too bad you have to get a push start with a car like that!" How humiliating.

If I were to guess the problem might be the starter (which was replaced less than 2000 miles ago), would that be my best starting place?

Thanks,

Chris
