Miltary aircraft also have impact switches. They're set to trigger from 
impacts exceeding 6 or 8 gs. And in practice, they occasionally shut down in the 
air which makes for some excitement in the cockpit when there's nothing but 
water below you.... Given that aircraft stuff is 12X the cost and   supposedly 
much more reliable than passenger car stuff, I'd expect car switches to also 
occasionally malfunction. So don't depend entirely on the factory switch; wire in 
a manual control. A simple ON/OFF toggle switch (with a guard) would work- 
especially if the incident needing pump shutdown is not a head-on collision or 
isn't violent enough to trigger an impact swtich. My 2¢- J DeRyke
